The Top Hunt Showdown Traits Ranked from Worst to Best (2024)

Traits are the unique skills introduced to Hunt: Showdown that grants passive bonuses to Hunters who possess them. These Hunt Showdown Traits can be purchased as upgrades for Hunters who advance in levels by earning XP in-game and may already be present on Hunters who are available for recruitment.

A player’s Bloodline Rank determines which traits are available when upgrading their Hunter. A Hunter’s tier determines which Traits might be added to that Hunter during recruitment. Traits can make a huge difference in Hunt: Showdown. They can turn the tides of any duel and give your Hunters the advantage that they need. So, today we are going to talk about some of the best Hunt: Showdown Traits.

Ranking the Best Hunt: Showdown Traits

15. Levering

This Trait increases the fire rate of fire when hip firing using lever-action rifles and lever-action shotguns. This gives a nice boost to any Winfield rifle and makes the weapons much deadlier up close. But it is not very useful for the Terminus at the moment. This Trait is kind of overpowered at the moment with Winfield Terminus. It is also very useful to have when you are using rifles, making your Hunter very powerful at close-range fights.

14. Bulwark Trait in Hunt Showdown

This Trait reduces explosions and bomb lance harpoon attacks by 50%. Comes in handy when trying to survive all the explosions in-game and this can also withstand a bomb lance harpoon attack.

13. Necromancer

Necromancer is a unique Trait that allows you to revive dead partners from a safe distance at the expense of a small amount of your health. This can be a game-changer in a heated situation. If you are ever unable to reach out to your partners, then this ability might be able to help you revive them from a distance. This works very well if your partner has the Resilience Trait.

12. Gator Legs

Gator Legs would be an easy top ten trait in Hunt Showdown if not for the new game maps and recent changes. This Trait helps players sprint faster in deep water. This also makes less noise while crouched in water. For only two points, this Trait is well worth what you are receiving.

Gator Legs are especially handy when you are playing on a map with lots of water. This is a huge QOL improvement for getting around the bayou. But do keep in mind that crossing water is still going to be very dangerous. But you will have a decent chance of survival from an ambush in the waters.

The secondary effect of making you noiseless when crouched in the water is like a trap. So, do not crouch in the water unless you are absolutely sure the enemy does not know you are there and will not have a line of sight on you.

11. Serpent Trait

The Serpent Trait comes in very useful when using Dark Sight, looking for a clue, rifts, and Banishable targets. You can use this Trait to quickly turn the tables and grab a bounty from outside the lair and track the Hunters all around you. It has a 25-meter range just like Necromancer. It punishes players for not picking up the bounty fast enough. You can use this Trait while using Dark sight.

10. Fanning

Fanning is the Trait that increases the fire rate of your 1-handed single-action pistols. Defeat your enemies with a hailstorm of bullets in the blink of an eye. Works great with all builds and makes enemies think twice before rushing into you if you have fanning. Costs 7 points for the tradeoff.

9. Whispersmith Trait in Hunt Showdown

This Trait reduces noise when selecting equipment. An amazing Trait for switching weapons or equipment and catching enemies off guard. This comes in very handy when you are playing with a build that makes you fight close-range.

For only 2 points, this is well worth the advantage that you are getting. This works great with Hellfire Bomb Trait and Concertina Bombs since these bombs usually make lots of noise when you take them out. You can also use this Trait to sneak up on an unsuspecting enemy for a knife kill.

8. Vulture

The Vulture Trait is a unique ability in Hunt: Showdown that lets players loot dead Hunters even after they have been looted by other Hunters. This one works great when running trios as this ability will let the three of you loot a dead hunter rather than only 2 people for each dead hunter.

7. Lightfoot

This Trait lets players vault, jump, fall, climb ladders silently. One of the best Traits for players who love to rush in guns blazing. Allows you to sneak up on enemy hunters and is great for almost all builds and a must-have for shotgun builds. Costs only 5 points. The Trait is quite situational but when the right opportunity comes, this Trait shines the most.

6. Physician

The physician is the healing Trait of Hunt: Showdown. It reduces the time needed to bandage using first aid kits. In a normal match of Hunt: Showdown, every second matters, and being able to heal up faster might just save Hunter’s life at the cost of only 5 points. This Trait only affects first aid kits. The first aid kits will now take 3 seconds to use instead of 6 seconds. It also lets players heal themselves silently in the middle of a fight safely.

5. Greyhound

The Greyhound Trait lets players sprint at full speed for a longer duration. Some players might think this Trait is not that useful, but when you don’t have this Trait, you can definitely feel the difference in sprinting. It is useful in every situation and great for all builds.

This Trait costs only 4 points and increases your sprinting duration from the 20s to 60s. This is one of the best abilities to help a player run away from danger or to chase down an enemy who is running away. You never want to be caught off guard with no stamina.

4. Quartermaster

The Quartermaster Trait lets players equip a medium slot weapon in addition to a large slot weapon. Meaning, this Trait will let you add more versatility to your builds. You can bring a long rifle with a shotgun. It is one of the best Traits to ever exist in Hunt: Showdown and everyone should get it as early as they can with only 6 points. Unless you are going with the Fanning build, the Quartermaster Trait is always a strong option.

3. Packmule

The Packmule Trait lets players receive an additional tool or consumable when looting Hunters or opening item boxes. Use your tools and consumables to get an edge in-game. Quickly restock after using this Trait. This is definitely one of the first Traits to get for any Hunter. Costs only 3 points.

Packmule is very good for very obvious reasons, as it lets you carry double the consumables that you could if you did not have the Trait. It can save a lot of money from having to buy high-tier grenades too.

2. Frontiersman

This Trait works great with Packmule as this Trait lets players get extra use for all tools. Having 4 first aid kits is really nice, especially when you can use them twice and with the Physician Trait or Doctor Trait, the Frontiersman works even better. This Trait works for all tolls allowing 3 uses of a Concertina trap mine, choke bombs, and more. It is costly though. It costs 8 points to get.

1. Doctor

Finally, the Doctor Trait is considered one of the best Traits in Hunt: Showdown. This Trait doubles the healing of a first aid kit. It allows you to focus on bringing other consumables and pair it with Packmule Trait and your Hunter is almost Guaranteed to stay stocked up on first aid. It costs 8 points but it is so worth the points when you get it.

If you reset your bloodline rank in order to unlock more Prestige in Hunt Showdown, and the Doctor trait is a viable option you should definitely grab it as soon as possible!

Final Thoughts on What Makes the Best Hunt Showdown Traits

The best traits in Hunt Showdown really focus on providing your hunter more utility or survivability. While other traits may affect your steady aim or help you in performing melee attacks, you really need to survive and be stealthy to win in this game.

That’s not to say that skills that provide you with even more lethality aren’t good. It’s more that you already are a fearsome, lethal killer. You should focus on filling in your shortcomings first.

Good luck in the swamps fellow hunters!
